The final rankings for the Inland_Sports Show “Great 8 & 4 More” Rankings were a little tougher than we thought. When you look back at the 2016 season, a lot of teams enjoyed some great seasons and many were comparable to one another; tough decisions! You could make the case for many teams to be in the “Great 8 & 4 More” rankings, but in the end we looked at common opponents, the league and playoff division, plus playoff runs!

With that said, the teams in our Great 8 are no surprise. They’re all household names in the IE football world.

We had to make room for San Gorgonio after winning the CIF Southern Section Division 7 title; the school’s first ever football championship!

We were wanting to squeeze CIF-SS Division 11 champion Valley View in the rankings as well, but had a difficult time putting the Eagles ahead of Paloma Valley – a team Valley View lost to during the regular season. The Eagles were certainly on the cusp of cracking the Inland_Sports Show rankings!

Just for fun … here’s the Inland_Sports Show “Great 8 & 4 More” Preseason rankings that we unveiled back in August before the season began. Much of the preseason rankings were based on how teams peformed in 2015 and returning players. Obviously, the most noticeable changes were Roosevelt and Yucaipa having big years in 2016!
