FOOTBALL: Covington takes over Jurupa Valley Football

Rick Covington has been tabbed as the head football coach at Jurupa Valley. The official word coming from Jaguars Athletic Director Mark Gard in the following press release:

Jurupa Valley High School is happy to announce the hiring of Rick Covington as the Head Football Coach.  Upon Board approval, Coach Covington will continue building the Jaguar Football Program. Rick previously coached at Valley View High School in Moreno Valley and Norte Vista High School in Riverside.  While at Norte Vista, Coach Covington served in a variety of capacities including the role of Defensive Coordinator for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Rick also served as Assistant Head Coach from 2010 to 2015. 

Coach Covington was raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia where he played for Hall of Fame Coach Tally Johnson at Central Gwinnett High School.  He was a three-year varsity letterman and consensus All-County pick as an Offensive Lineman in 1984. Rick graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia where he earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees.  

Coach Rick Covington currently lives in Riverside with his wife Johanna and his two children, Zoey and Wyatt.
