MEN’S BASKETBALL: UC Riverside holds off Fullerton 65-59

The UC Riverside men’s basketball team won its second consecutive Big West Conference game, 65-59 against Cal State Fullerton.

The Highlanders were led by Dikymbe Martin’s 13 points off the bench.

UCR (12-6, 2-0) will host Cal State Northridge on Thursday. The Highlanders are 8-1 at home this season.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: CBU falls to Grand Canyon 62-58

The California Baptist women’s basketball team dropped its fifth game in a row by falling to Grand Canyon 62-58. Ane Olaeta netted a game-high 20 points along with 9 assists in the loss for CBU (8-10, 0-4).

The Lancers trailed by as many as 16 points in the 2nd quarter before battling back and taking the lead in the third.

Tiena Afu grabbed 15 rebounds to go along with her 8 points.

The Lancers hit the road for games at Chicago State and Kansas City.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Hillcrest rolls past Patriot 84-40

The Hillcrest boys basketball team sank 16 3-pointers and gained the inside track to the River Valley League title with an 84-40 win against Patriot. The Trojans were led by Sebastian Mendoza with 19 points. Gavin Kroll scored 30 of the Warriors 40 points in the loss.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: CBU falls to CSU Bakersfield 66-61

California Baptist fell to 0-3 in the Western Athletic Conference after a 66-61 loss to Cal State Bakersfield.

The Lancers struggle from three-point range, going 5-28 from beyond the arc.

George Dale led the Lancers with 16 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Ane Olaeta added 13 and Delacy Brown 11.

CBU returns to action on Saturday as it hosts Grand Canyon at 1pm.
