FOOTBALL: Pre-Season “Great 8 & 4 More” Rankings

Using a very complicated, scientific, and mathematical formula; the Inland_Sports Show Super Computer was able to squirt out (as Geoff Gorham put it) these preseason “Great 8 & 4 More” power rankings based on a points system.

Centennial checks in at the top spot with 48 points; followed by Murrieta Valley, Heritage, Vista Murrieta and Roosevelt rounding out the top five spots. There were several ties including a log jam for the 8th spot in the Great 8.

Be sure to follow @Inland_Sports on Twitter and inland_sports_show on instagram for any updates to the Great 8 & 4 More Power Rankings. The Inland_Sports Show Super Computer will be squirting out a new power ranking after Week 0.

Local hoops legend and Inland_Sports co-host Geoff Gorham breaks down each of the finalists:

Sr.        Jordan Williams          Tahquitz H.S.

Jordan is a four- year Varsity starter and has led Tahquitz to four straight Mountain Pass League Championships.   He is an all-around player… He can score when needed, get a big rebound, a steal, anything that needs to get done. He can win and knows how to win. A special player. Several D1 schools are after him

Sr.        Alex Wright                Woodcrest Christian H.S.

Alex is Woodcrest Christian’s all-time leading scorer. He is a versatile combo guard with great length, can see the floor, hit the open shot and make everyone around better. He has led the Royals to two consecutive CIF semi-finals. Alex signed at CBU

Sr.        Matt Mitchell                         Roosevelt H.S.

Matt is a dominate force in one of the toughest leagues on one of the best teams in Southern California. Matt can play small forward and stretch defenses with his perimeter shot and can also play the power spot where he dominates the boards and defends Bigs. Matt will be great player in the Big West next year at Cal State Fullerton.

Sr.        Jemarl Baker                          Roosevelt H.S.

Jemarl is an athletic wing who can shoot with anyone. He is athletic, can stretch the floor and get after it on the defensive end of the floor. He is a smart player, who protects the ball and can find players in the open court. Jemarl Baker is taking his talents to the Pac-12, to the Bay Area of U.C. Berkeley.

Sr.        Jalen Hill                                 Centennial H.S.

Jalen Hill is another great ball player from the long list to come out of Centennial. Jalen is a long, athletic slasher , who can any team better because of his athleticism. He has a pro body and has a tremendous upside with a high ceiling. Jalen will be going to play for the UCLA Bruins next year under Steve Alford.

Sr.        Ajani Kennedy                                    Rancho Verde H.S.

Ajani is another long, athletic forward who can play inside and step out on the perimeter and hit a mid-range shot. He is long enough to guard Bigs and quick enough to guard more athletic perimeter players. He is still a work in progress, but has the chance to be a great player in Dennis Cutts system at UC Riverside.

Jr.        Mathew Bradley                     San Bernardino H.S.

Mathew is the most versatile player on this list, with the most potential to be a superstar at the next level. He is a beast, able to take over games and score at will. He can play inside, outside, and anywhere he wants to… he is that special kind of player. Great ball-handler, shooter and defender. He has the highest ceiling of anyone Ive seen in a long time and he’s only a Jr.
