VOLLEYBALL: Citrus Valley earns share of CBL crown

The Citrus Valley Blackhawks defeated Yucaipa 3-0 to force a 3-way tie for first place in the Citrus Belt League along with the T’birds and Redlands East Valley. CV defeated Yucaipa and REV in the final week of CBL play.

FOOTBALL: Kurt Bruich leaving REV for Citrus Valley

According to the Citrus Valley Athletics twitter account, Redlands East Valley head football coach Kurt Bruich will take over the Citrus Valley program effective on January 8, 2018.

Bruich spent 16 years at REV and won 11 Citrus Belt League titles.

He also guided the Wildcats to the CIF Southern Section Inland Division and CIF Division 2 state championship in 2014.

Bruich leaves REV with an overall record of 140-46-2.

Citrus Valley finished 5-6 last season.

VOLLEYBALL: Yucaipa tops Citrus Valley 3-0 in CBL Showdown

The Yucaipa volleyball team defeated Citrus Valley 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 26-24) in a battle for first place in the Citrus Belt League. The Thunderbirds grabbed sole possession of the CBL-lead as they move to 6-0 in league action.

FOOTBALL: Citrus Valley Shock N’ Awe Workout

The Citrus Valley football team held its annual Shock N’ Awe Workout with the United States Marines. Head Coach Pete Smolin will join us on The Inland_Sports Show Fox Sports IE 1350AM on Saturday at 11am to talk about the workout. The players are physically and mentally pushed to the limit by the Marines, as it sets the tone for the rest of the Blackhawks season.

BASEBALL: Percival pitches Poly past Citrus Valley 1-0 in CIF-SS Division 3 Playoffs

Riverside Poly pitcher Cole Percival pitched a complete game shutout, lifting the Bears to a 1-0 victory at Citrus Valley in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs.

Percival took a no-hitter into the 6th inning before surrendering a double to Cody Branstetter. The Blackhawks Chaz McWilliams doubled in the seventh inning to put the tying run in scoring position, but Percival went the the distance allowing just two hits in the game.
