If you’re a high school football fan in the Inland Empire, you gotta love some of these match-ups coming the next two weeks: Norco vs. Centennial, Heritage vs. Paloma Valley, and Cajon vs. REV.
Norco cracks the Great 8 with a shootout win vs. Santiago as the Cougars climb to #7. Vista Murrieta is back in the 4 More after wins against Murrieta Mesa and Chaparral. The Broncos are probably the best 3-5 team in the world.
Citrus Hill, Aquinas, and Rancho Verde will have a hard time moving up the rankings as they are all slated to make league title runs.
The most intriguing league to keep an eye on is likely the Big VIII. Think about it … Santiago, Roosevelt, and Norco will be battling for playoff positioning the next couple of weeks; assuming Centennial wins the league crown.
Murrieta Valley topped Vista Murrieta for the second straight season so the Nighthawks move up to #3. Remember when they lost to Santiago in their season opener? Was it an off-night for Murrieta Valley, or maybe the Sharks are “that good.”
We’ve got Cajon @ Yucaipa in a couple weeks in Citrus Belt League play.
We’re also anxious to see Murrieta Mesa go through Southwestern League play. The Rams opened league with a blowout win against Temecula Valley, but the games will only get harder going forward.
Not much changing in the Inland_Sports Show “Great 8 & 4 More” Rankings after Week 4 … I guess that means the Inland_Sports super computer is pretty darn accurate so far.
But what to do about Norco (1-3)? The Cougars have played a brutal non-league schedule and have just a blowout win vs. Riverside Poly to show for it. Does Norco deserve to be ranked? Which team would we take out in place of Norco? We want to hear from you!
We’re also keeping tabs on Yucaipa, Arlington, and Paloma Valley. All 3 are on the verge of joining the party!
