GIRLS BASKETBALL: Vista Murrieta beats Murrieta Mesa 50-37

The Vista Murrieta girls basketball team avenged an earlier season loss to Murrieta Mesa with a 50-37 win on Wednesday night.

The win kept Vista Murrieta tied with Great Oak for first place in the Southwestern League.

BASKETBALL: UC Riverside rips Cal Poly 74-51

The UC Riverside men’s basketball team picked up its first road win of the season with a 74-51 victory at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

The Highlanders grabbed 48 rebounds and were led in scoring by Ajani Kennedy (15), Callum McRae (14) and Dragan Elkaz (14).

UCR (8-13, 2-3) plays at UC Irvine on Saturday.
