Centennial Football, CBU Volleyball on The Inland_Sports Show (8-12-17)

The Centennial Huskies will open the season vs. Pittsburg on August 25.
The Cal Baptist volleyball team is getting set for its final season in the PacWest Conference.

Centennial Huskies head coach Matt Logan joins us in the Inland_Sports Show Studio to break down the upcoming 2017 season. Huskies quarterback Tanner McKee, center Solo Vaipulu, and linebacker Solo Vaipulu also joined us.
Plus, Cal Baptist women’s volleyball joins us to talk about their final season in the PacWest Conference.

FOOTBALL: Centennial Huskies Practice

Head Coach Matt Logan and the Centennial Huskies will kick-off the season against Pittsburg (Ca.) in Week 0 on August 25. The Evil Empire will also meet IMG Academy, Etiwanda, and Narbonne in non-league play.

FOOTBALL: Centennial Passing League with Vista Murrieta, Summit, and AB Miller

The Centennial Huskies hosted Vista Murrieta, Summit, and AB Miller for some 7-on-7 action. Check out some highlights and interviews on the Inland_Sports Channel, including Centennial quarterback Tanner McKee!

FOOTBALL: Centennial vs. IMG Academy Video Highlights

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) converted a two-point conversion with :12 seconds left to edge Corona Centennial 50-49 at the Honor Bowl at Mission Viejo High School.

The Huskies were led by quarterback Tanner McKee who passed for 361 yards, receiver Xavier Marshall who finished with 204 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, and running back Miles Reed who posted 162 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns.

Centennial will look to bounce back in Week-2 of the season as the Huskies return home to host Orange Lutheran.

FOOTBALL: Centennial tops Chandler 56-49 in season opener

The Corona Centennial Huskies kicked off the 2016 season with a 56-49 victory against Chandler (Arizona) at Norco High School. After a defensive stand to turn away Chandler from the 2-yardline, the Huskies turned around and marched 98 yards in just over a minute as quarterback Tanner McKee punched in the game winning touchdown with :50 on the clock.

FOOTBALL: Centennial reloading for CIF Title run

Quarterback Tanner McKee, receiver Justin Fisher, defensive back Reggie Whitfield, slot receiver Troy Spencer, and running back Miles Reed joined Pep Fernandez for the Inland_Sports Show.

The Corona Centennial Huskies will have some new faces starting on the offensive side of the ball, plus a couple returners, that will help Matt Logan’s team compete for another CIF Southern Section championship.

Centennial is the 2x defending Pac 5 Division champion, but will now compete in the new “Division 1” of the CIF-SS.

Leading the way will be running back Miles Reed, whose brother Arthur Burns along with Vontaze Burfict, helped the Huskies win their only state championship in 2008.

The Huskies talked about their upcoming season including the addition of receiver Tyjon Lindsey from Bishop Gorman High School; and also their non-league showdown with IMG Academy from Florida.

 

INLAND SPORTS SHOW: Notre Dame Football & Super Bowl Spectacular!

Riverside Notre Dame head football coach Derrick Johnson joined the Inland_Sports Show with star player Jaden Gardner. Johnson talked about the CIF-Southern Section Northwest Division title and looked ahead to next season which includes some tough non-league games versus Tesoro and St. Paul. Gardner talked about his decision to follow in his father’s footsteps and sign with the Idaho Vandals.

Azusa Pacific University head coach Victor Santa Cruz also called in to talk about his Inland Empire signings, including Notre Dame defensive back Wes Smith.

The Inland_Sports team also previewed Super Bowl 50 with former Seattle Seahawks linebacker and special teams star Heath Farwell (Corona High School) and former Los Angeles Rams kicker Frank Corral (Norte Vista High School).

Centennial head football coach Matt Logan also joined the show to sound-off on next season and the recent transfer of Tyjon Lindsey from Bishop Gorman.
