IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) converted a two-point conversion with :12 seconds left to edge Corona Centennial 50-49 at the Honor Bowl at Mission Viejo High School.
The Huskies were led by quarterback Tanner McKee who passed for 361 yards, receiver Xavier Marshall who finished with 204 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, and running back Miles Reed who posted 162 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns.
Centennial will look to bounce back in Week-2 of the season as the Huskies return home to host Orange Lutheran.

The Corona Centennial Huskies kicked off the 2016 season with a 56-49 victory against Chandler (Arizona) at Norco High School. After a defensive stand to turn away Chandler from the 2-yardline, the Huskies turned around and marched 98 yards in just over a minute as quarterback Tanner McKee punched in the game winning touchdown with :50 on the clock.

The Corona Centennial Huskies will have some new faces starting on the offensive side of the ball, plus a couple returners, that will help Matt Logan’s team compete for another CIF Southern Section championship.
Centennial is the 2x defending Pac 5 Division champion, but will now compete in the new “Division 1” of the CIF-SS.
Leading the way will be running back Miles Reed, whose brother Arthur Burns along with Vontaze Burfict, helped the Huskies win their only state championship in 2008.
The Huskies talked about their upcoming season including the addition of receiver Tyjon Lindsey from Bishop Gorman High School; and also their non-league showdown with IMG Academy from Florida.
